Just before 5 pm this afternoon, Stations 51, 53 and EMS units from Station 55 were dispatched to Route 322 Bypass near N. New Street in West Goshen Twp for a three vehicle accident. One vehicle was reported overturned and down an embankment. EMS units arrived quickly and confirmed that there was entrapment. Rescue 53 arrived on scene to find a vehicle on its side down an embankment in thick brush and quickly went to work. Engine 51-2 arrived and stretched a charged protective hoseline, while the Rescue crew secured the vehicle utilizing a portable winch. Crews also installed additional stabilization using Paratech Rescue Struts. EMS personnel had gained access to the vehicle and were assessing and treating the victim. Fame rescuers used Hurst eDraulic and preconnected hydraulic rescue cutters, along with sawz-alls to flap the roof. The victim was placed into a stokes basket and carefully moved up the embankment to an awaiting ambulance. Paramedics transported her to a local trauma center for care. It took 19 minutes from Rescue 53’s arrival until the victim was safely removed and on her way to the hospital. West Chester Fire Police also assisted with traffic control. The West Goshen Twp Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident. All WCFD units cleared the scene before 6:00 pm.
