Station 53 has NFPA 1006 CERTIFIED Level I and Level 2 Structural Collapse Rescue Technicians many of whom have also successfully completed the 80+ hour FEMA USAR Structural Collapse Technician (SCT) course.
During structural collapse incidents our rescue technicians are able to assess the magnitude of any given situation and utilize available resources to safely and effectively mitigate the emergency. Our rescue technicians are trained in structural assessment, conducting wide area and technical search, emergency shoring and stabilization, breaching of building materials, patient packaging and extrication.
Fame members currently serve on the Southeastern PA Regional Urban Search and Rescue Team and are capable of being deployed anywhere in Pennsylvania to assist in disaster response. In addition, (4) Fame members currently serve on two US Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Urban Search And Rescue (USAR) Teams based in Pennsylvania and Maryland. These members can be deployed anywhere in the US for up to 14 days to help rescue victims of man-made or natural disasters.
